The immune system, which is the set of cells and their activity against antigens, or infectious agents that comprise the body's defense system against diseases. The immune system does a great job of keeping people healthy and preventing infections. However, sometimes problems with the immune system can lead to illness and infection.

The best defense is to avoid exposure to all viruses, but that is next to impossible. The only thing you can do is to strengthen your immune system so you won't get sick if you are exposed to a virus.

Here are some tips that help to boost your immune system:

1. Drink plenty of fluids
2. Limited intake of refined sugar
3. Taking immune system boosting supplements

a) Lingzhi
The word lingzhi, in Chinese means "herb of spiritual potency" and has also been described as "mushroom of immortality". Because of its presumed health benefits and apparent absence of side-effects, it has attained a reputation in the East as the ultimate herbal substance. Lingzhi is a large, dark red mushroom which is a member of the polyproraceac family. Lingzhi has a molecular structure and among medicinal plant can improve your immune system.

b)Yunzhi
Yunzhi is a medicinal mushroom also known as Coriolus Versicolor. Of all the medicinal mushrooms used in Traditional Chinese Medicine, it is the most studied by modern scientists, yet Yunzhi is the least known outside of China and Japan. It is only recently that the world has become aware of the immunomodulating properties of Yunzhi.

c)Larix
Larix is a natural arabinogalactan supplement that bolsters the body's natural defenses whiling cleansing and reinforcing digestion for maximal health.

d)Cordyceps
Cordyceps is better known as traditional medicine, consisting of the dried fungus. Cordyceps grow on the larve of the caterpillar. It is commonly used for the replenishment of general body help, specially in strengthen immune system.

e) Echinacea
Echinacea increases the 'non-specific' activity of the immune system. Unlike a vaccine which is active only against a specific disease, echinacea stimulates the overall activity of the cells responsible for fighting all kinds of infection. Unlike antibiotics which are directly lethal to bacteria, echinacea makes our own immune cells more efficient in attacking bacteria and viruses

Astragalus is another immune boosting herb from Chinese medicine. However, we often make the mistake here in the West of *only* taking one effective herb at a time. Chinese medicine often shows that a synergy happens when herbs are taken as part of a decoction. For allergies I often suggest the herbal formula YuPingFeng San (Jade Windscreen Powder), which strengthens the immune system and helps with allergies as well as asthma.

Acupuncture is another way of boosting the immune system. The acupoint ZuSanLi (St 36) has been shown to increase white blood cell count by a substantial amount.

I hadn't even heard of half these things, I thought that once you realize that you have a poor immune system, that that's the end of it, you have to live with it.

Dont forget to get Vitamin D levels checked. Suboptimal levels are reaching epidemic proportions and Vitamin D plays a key role in a strong immune system. For many, it takes 1000's of IU to increase low levels of serum Vit D.

I usually try to drink a glass of orange juice daily. I also try to eat fresh fruit on regular basis. Doing that along with a proper diet and exercise will help boost your immunity.

Nice post friend.I think you have mentioned very good points.The main thing i can tell is that the regularity is the most important in whatever care you taking to strengthen your immune system.
