"Although the United States hasn't yet developed guidelines for caffeine intake and kids, Canadian guidelines recommend that preschool children get no more than 45 milligrams of caffeine a day. That's equivalent to the average amount of caffeine found in a 12-ounce (355-milliliter) can of soda or four 1.5-ounce (43-gram) milk chocolate bars."

It is very important that children have the proper start when they are young. I would think it's a very bad idea to give any child a caffeinated soda, which is one of the most unhealthy thing even for adults, that alone a child. Children should be given products with wonderful anitoxidants, and supplements to help build their bodies, and give them a proper start in life, the way of life with fast food what nutritions are they getting....not much!

Caffeine intake should be in limited quantities only, by children and adults too!

I don't think a generalization can be made about this subject.
I know that when I was a kid, I could put away 8 to 9 strong cups of coffee, where as my friend got acidity after 3.
(We tried competing through the day this once)

I agree on this I think there will be some serious consequences on there health if children were to expose on caffeine too very early.

In both kids and adults, too much caffeine can cause
* Nervousness
* upset stomach
* headaches
* difficulty concentrating
* difficulty sleeping
* increased heart rate
* increased blood pressure
So occasional cup of coffee will not hurt anyone.

Caffeine is one of the biggest culprits for destroying the adrenal glands. Having a child downing caffeine all the time is not the way to start a healthy lifestyle!

Hey All,
It's wise to keep caffeine consumption to a minimum, especially in younger kids.Kids who consume one or more 12-ounce sweetened soft drink per day are 60% more likely to be obese.

We don't keep soft drinks in our house. Instead we drink lemonade, water and milk. We do allow our kids to have soft drinks if we go out to dinner and go through the drive-thru but we don't do that very often. If we had soft drinks in our house, that's all our kids would drink.

if we talking about caffeine and child. the best drinks for kids are water and milk, which don't contain caffeine. kids with heart problems should not drink caffeine because it's known to affect heart rates and force the heart to work harder

I prefer water and fruit juices as milk might have growth hormones..
